Our Story:

Sri Chakra Studios was founded in 2020 with the vision to create a sustainable demand for Indian handcrafted textiles.The company began its operations  in the B2C space with the brand name – The Indian Motif, and manages its sales using an online store (https://www.theindianmotif.com) and offline store based out of Bengaluru.

Our Founder and CEO Ms Swetha Sarma Sunderraman is a techie-turned entrepreneur and is an alumnus of the flagship business management program of the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.

Swetha was inspired to start this enterprise due to her passion for Indian handcrafted sarees, her quest for understanding the reason for the decline in artisans belonging to weaving communities and a strong intent to promote pure Indian handcrafted textiles across the globe.

Our mission is to enable and encourage handloom weavers and artisans to continue their craft by creating a sustained demand for handcrafted textiles. We work towards this cause through creating customer awareness of various textile craft identities, reassuring the artisans of the relevance and significance of their craft and promoting the handcrafted products through our online and offline store. We currently work with artisans from 40+ textile craft clusters across India and are steadily expanding our ecosystem of artisans.

Our curated collection includes a beautiful collection of handwoven sarees (pure cotton, pure silk and pure silk cotton, linens), handcrafted blouses, handcrafted stoles and dupattas for women We also have a small clothing collection for men and children created for comfort and style with the best of Indian handcrafted fabrics.

 All products in our collection are purely handcrafted and made of pure fabrics only - i.e. either pure cotton, silk, or silk cotton or linen fabric. No poly-based fibres or commoditized machine-made products are a part of our collection. 

While our brand was born in the pandemic year, we are very fortunate to have a strong ecosystem of artisans whom we learn from each day and patrons who have stood by us and value the work we do. We would like to proudly share that in the last 30+ months of operation, we have had no customer delivery issues across 500+ orders delivered globally and our customer retention rate has been close to 100%.

We are now stepping in to explore the B2B export market to be the trusted supplier of authentic, unique and high quality Indian handcrafted textiles – spanning across sarees, stoles, home linen and home décor categories, globally.
